About Cherry Tree House

Malcolm Manifold is a designer cabinet-maker turned guest house host. He came to Cherry Tree House in 2000 and spent over three years refurbishing it to the highest standards and personally making almost all the furniture and fittings, including a hand-carved panel depicting local birds, which you will see as you approach the house.

He will welcome you to this small guest house with views to Devil’s Bridge and the Barbon Hills. With only two rooms available, you can be assured of a peaceful stay, where you will feel more like a member of the family than a guest house visitor. Your room will be en suite, with TV and tea/coffee facilities, and there is private parking. You will be offered a breakfast menu of choice. If you are interested there may be some of Malcolm’s hand crafted woodwork available to purchase as gifts or for yourself.

Devil's Bridge
The ancient market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is an ideal location from which to visit either the Yorkshire Dales or the English Lake District. If you prefer to relax locally, there is plenty to do without even getting into your car including a variety of walks such as along the River Lune and up the Radical Steps to Ruskin’s View. You can browse around the town’s many shops and restaurants including ladies and gent’s outfitters, antiques/interior design, ‘old fashioned’ sweeties, jewellers, art and stationery supplies, outdoor clothing and equipment, gifts and fancy goods, books, leather goods and art galleries. For the gourmet there is a prize-winning butcher, a wine shop, a cheese shop, a baker and a hand-made chocolate shop. When you’re ready for sustenance you will find a wide a variety of coffee shops and eating houses.
For a holiday with a difference, come the first week in September (check to confirm dates) and enjoy Kirkby Lonsdale’s Victorian Weekend, when the town steps back in history with stalls of all kinds, street entertainment and spit roasted food.

Those who wish to venture further afield can find out everything they need to know from Kirkby Lonsdale’s own Tourist Information Office, just three minutes’ walk from Cherry Tree House. For the sporting visitor there is river fishing, golf (www.benthamgolfclub.co.uk) and bowls.
